The passion Santa has for dance manifests both in word and action. Best known for her sexy swagger, Santa best describes her dance style not as sexy but passionate. Santa's ability to adapt to her dance partner's style makes her one of the best followers in Milwaukee and while she has
been stepping for many years, she is increasingly gaining recognition for her talent. Santa began stepping in 2004 and has continued to excel throughout the years; most recently winning first place in the 2010 Stepping Idol Contest.
Santa welcomes the spirit of competition. Before winning the 2010 Stepping Idol, Santa entered the 2009 World's Largest Stepping Contest as well as many grab bag contests over the years. When speaking of contests, Santa makes it clear that the most important factor is fun. Her natural dedication to what is good in the dance community makes her a prize on and off of the dance floor.
Santa's love of dance has also lead her to Detroit Ballroom, Milwaukee Bop and Latin Hustle. Her ability to translate her talents across styles makes her a true dance enthusiast. But that's not all.... Also on
Santa's dance card is Salsa (plus other Latin styles), Zumda, Fox Trot, and Waltz. Santa Steward is truly an all star.
Santa is not centered only on self; she loves watching others in the community. She enjoys seeing the hip-hoppers incorporating their style into stepping and the old school steppers doing their thing. Most of all she loves to see someone who feels the music and gets lost in it. She says, "That's where I can tell if someone is an all around dancer... and do it for the love of dance; not just as a hobby".
Santa brings great skill, versatility and a reserve of untapped artistic energy to the dance community. She also brings vision:
"I would like to see unity. I would love for the
different groups to come together and put some couples together... so Milwaukee can win the World's Largest one of these years. There's a lot of talent here, we just gotta work together to put it out there and put
Milwaukee on the map." |
